Mattress seams, bed frames, upholstered furniture, cracks, and other sheltered indoor locations.

Feeds exclusively on blood, primarily from humans and occasionally other warm-blooded animals; it does not eat fabric or wood.

Nocturnal and secretive, emerging to feed and then hiding nearby. Females lay eggs in protected crevices, and populations can persist for months without feeding.

Bites can cause itchy welts, allergic reactions, and sleep disruption, but bed bugs are not established vectors of human disease. They provide no meaningful household or ecological benefit.
