Green Lacewing Larva (often called 'aphid lion')

Found on trees, shrubs, and gardens where plants have aphid infestations.

Carnivorous; they feed heavily on soft-bodied insects like aphids, mites, thrips, and small caterpillars.

They are active hunters with prominent sickle-like mandibles used to pierce prey and suck out body fluids. Some species pile debris and carcasses of prey on their backs for camouflage.

Extremely beneficial to gardens and agriculture as natural predators of plant pests. They do not pose any significant risk to humans, though they can occasionally give a mild, harmless pinch if handled.
