Natural Habitat
Human dwellings, primarily found in cracks and crevices of beds, mattresses, and furniture near sleeping areas.
Diet & Feeding
Strictly hematophagous (blood-feeding), primarily on humans but will feed on other warm-blooded animals if necessary.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal, hiding during the day and emerging at night to feed. They are attracted to heat and carbon dioxide produced by hosts and undergo hemimetabolous metamorphosis.
Risks & Benefits
While not known to transmit diseases, bites can cause allergic reactions, intense itching, and secondary skin infections. Infestations can lead to significant psychological stress and anxiety.
