Plaster bagworm (household casebearer)

Quiet, humid indoor areas such as walls, closets, bathrooms, and under furniture; also sheltered outdoor surfaces.

Larvae consume old spider webs, wool, hair, dead insects, and other keratin-rich debris; adults generally do not feed.

The caterpillar lives inside a camouflaged silken case that it carries while feeding, then pupates within it. Adults are small, weak-flying moths and are often overlooked.

Harmless to people and pets, with no biting or venom. Larvae may damage wool, fur, feathers, and natural-fiber textiles, while also helping break down household organic debris.
