Bed bug

Homes and other indoor spaces, hiding in mattress seams, furniture, and cracks near sleeping areas.

Feeds on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals, usually at night.

Flat, wingless, reddish-brown insects that hide by day and emerge to feed; infestations spread through infested belongings and furnishings.

Bites can cause itchy skin reactions and disturbed sleep, but bed bugs are not known to transmit disease. They have no meaningful ecosystem benefit indoors.
