Bed Bug

Found worldwide in human dwellings, particularly in cracks and crevices of mattresses, box springs, bed frames, and furniture.

Obligate hematophagous; feeds exclusively on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals.

Nocturnal and elusive. They hide in dark crevices during the day and emerge at night to feed. They do not fly or jump, but crawl rapidly.

Risks include painful, itchy bites, secondary skin infections from scratching, and psychological distress or anxiety. They are generally not known to transmit infectious diseases to humans, and offer no known ecological benefits in human environments.
