Aphid (likely wingless plant louse)

Usually found on plant stems, leaves, and new growth; this individual may have wandered indoors from houseplants or nearby vegetation.

Pierces plant tissue and sucks phloem sap. It may cause leaf curling, yellowing, stunting, and sticky honeydew buildup.

Often occurs in colonies and reproduces rapidly, frequently by live birth during favorable conditions. Many species alternate between wingless and winged forms, with winged adults dispersing to new plants.

Generally harmless to people and pets, though infestations can weaken plants and transmit plant viruses. Aphids provide food for lady beetles, lacewings, hoverfly larvae, and parasitoid wasps.
