Tropical rainforest undergrowth and shaded areas in the Amazon Basin

Adults feed on fermenting fruit, fungi, and decaying organic matter on the forest floor; larvae feed on palms and Cyclanthaceae.

Active in the low light of the forest floor, using transparent wings for camouflage; has a low, jerky flight pattern and rarely visits flowers.

No risk to humans; benefits the ecosystem as a decomposer and indicator species for rainforest health.
