Banded garden spider (likely)

Open, sunny habitats such as gardens, grasslands, fields, and woodland edges; it builds webs among tall vegetation.

A carnivore that captures flies, grasshoppers, bees, and other insects in a sticky orb web, then immobilizes prey with venom and consumes liquefied tissues.

Mostly sits motionless in its web, often with legs paired and a zigzag web decoration. It is generally docile, replaces damaged webs, and produces an egg sac in autumn; spiderlings emerge the following season.

Its bite is uncommon and usually causes only localized pain, redness, or swelling, comparable to a mild insect sting. It benefits gardens by suppressing many flying and plant-eating insects.
