Sycamore Lace Bug

Found on sycamore trees, particularly London plane trees, inhabiting the undersides of leaves.

Plant sap, feeding exclusively on the foliage of sycamore trees by piercing plant cells and sucking out the contents.

Gregarious insects that overwinter as adults under the bark scales of trees. They emerge in spring to lay eggs on the underside of leaves, producing multiple generations per year.

They pose a risk to urban forestry and ornamental trees by causing premature leaf drop, stippling, and discoloration of sycamore foliage. They offer no notable agricultural or ecological benefits beyond serving as a food source for generalist predators.
