Bed bug

Hides in mattress seams, furniture, floor cracks, and other sheltered spots near people.

Feeds mainly on human blood; may also bite other warm-blooded animals.

Nocturnal, wingless, and adept at hiding; females lay eggs in sheltered locations, and young nymphs also require blood meals to develop.

Bites can cause itchy welts or allergic reactions and infestations can be difficult to eliminate. Bed bugs are not known to transmit human diseases.
