Dried tobacco, flour, cereal, nuts, dried fruit, spices, and occasionally book bindings or leather.

Active year-round in warm indoor environments; they are strong fliers and are attracted to dim light.

They are a major stored-product pest that can contaminate large quantities of food, though they do not bite or transmit diseases to humans.
