Woodlouse (sowbug)

Damp, sheltered places such as beneath stones, leaf litter, logs, and sometimes in basements or bathrooms.

Feeds mainly on decaying plant material, fungi, and other organic debris.

A terrestrial crustacean, not an insect; it hides in moist areas and is usually active at night. It needs damp conditions to avoid drying out.

Harmless to people and pets, and does not infest stored food; it helps break down dead plant matter. Large numbers indoors can signal excess moisture.
