Found in indoor human environments, specifically mattresses, box springs, bed frames, furniture, and cracks in walls near sleeping areas.

Exclusively feeds on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded hosts.

Nocturnal insects that hide in dark, tight crevices during the day and emerge at night to feed. They go through incomplete metamorphosis with five nymphal stages.

Risks include painful, itchy bites, secondary skin infections from scratching, and psychological distress from infestations. They do not typically transmit infectious diseases to humans. They provide no significant benefits in a domestic context.
