Asian lady beetle (multicolored Asian lady beetle)

Gardens, fields, forests, and buildings; often gathers indoors to overwinter.

Adults and larvae mainly eat aphids and other soft-bodied insects; they may also feed on fruit or plant material.

Highly variable in color and spot pattern. Adults overwinter in sheltered clusters and can release a foul-smelling yellow fluid when disturbed.

Useful predator of crop pests. It does not pose a serious danger, but may bite mildly, stain surfaces, or trigger allergies when present indoors.
