Indoor environments such as homes, offices, and museums, as well as outdoors in bird nests, rodent burrows, and flowers.

Larvae feed on animal-based fibers such as wool, silk, leather, feathers, hair, and stored dried products, while adults feed on pollen and nectar.

Adults are often found near windows trying to get outside or on flowering plants outdoors. Larvae tend to hide in dark, undisturbed areas like closets, carpets, and under furniture.

Larvae can cause significant damage to clothing, carpets, upholstered furniture, and museum specimens, but adults are harmless pollinators.
