Small carpenter bee

Gardens, woodland edges, and other areas with flowering plants and pithy stems.

Adults feed on nectar and pollen; larvae consume stored pollen.

Usually solitary. Females nest in hollow or pithy plant stems, where they lay eggs and provision cells.

Generally harmless and rarely stings; an effective pollinator of small flowers.
