Pandora Sphinx Moth

Found in deciduous forests, vine-covered areas, and near residential gardens across eastern North America.

Adults feed on the nectar of deep-throated flowers like Petunia and Saponaria. Caterpillars feed on the leaves of plants in the Vitaceae family, including grapes and Virginia creeper.

They are primarily nocturnal or crepuscular, often attracted to lights. They are known for their fast, hovering flight similar to a hummingbird. The life cycle involves holometabolous metamorphosis, with larvae pupating in the soil.

They are harmless to humans and serve as important nocturnal pollinators. While caterpillars can consume leaves, they rarely cause significant economic damage to vines.
