Diet & Feeding

Stored grains, flour, cereal, dry pet food, nuts, and spices. They do not feed on whole kernels but rather grain dust.

Behavior Patterns

Adults can live for up to a year; they are nocturnal and very active but cannot fly. They lay eggs directly into their food source.

Risks & Benefits

A major agricultural and household pest that can ruin food stores and produce a foul odor when present in large numbers; they do not bite or sting humans.
