Jewel jumping spider

Warm, sunny habitats including gardens, vegetation, tree trunks, and buildings. Often found on exposed surfaces while hunting.

Predatory; hunts flies, mosquitoes, small moths, and other arthropods. It captures prey by leaping rather than using a capture web.

Active by day, with excellent vision and rapid stalking jumps. It builds a small silk retreat for resting, molting, and laying eggs, and is generally solitary.

Not medically significant to humans and rarely bites unless handled. Beneficial as a predator of nuisance insects; its bright coloration is harmless.
