Leafhopper

Found in a wide variety of terrestrial habitats, including forests, grasslands, agricultural fields, and gardens, typically living on the leaves and stems of plants.

Herbivorous; they feed exclusively on plant sap using piercing-sucking mouthparts.

They are capable of rapid jumping and flying when disturbed. Many species are active during the day and are strongly attracted to artificial lights at night. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis.

Many species are agricultural pests that can transmit plant pathogens, cause 'hopperburn' by damaging foliage, or weaken plants. They serve as an important food source for many predatory insects, spiders, and birds in the ecosystem.
