Carpet Beetle Larva

Indoors within homes, carpets, closets, pantries, upholstered furniture, and baseboards

Feeds on natural fibers, dead insects, hair, feathers, wool, silk, and stored grain products

Slow-moving caterpillar-like larvae covered in bristly hairs (hastisetae). They avoid light and seek dark, undisturbed areas to feed before pupating into adult beetles.

Pest that causes damage to household fabrics, carpets, clothing, and stored goods. Shed hairs can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions (carpet beetle dermatitis) in sensitive individuals.
