Spider beetle (likely)

Dry, dark indoor areas such as pantries, cupboards, stored-food containers, and wall voids; also bird or rodent nests outdoors.

Larvae feed on dried organic materials, including grains, cereals, spices, dead insects, and animal-derived debris; adults feed little or not at all.

Adults are compact, slow-moving, and may feign death or remain motionless when disturbed. Larvae develop concealed within stored materials and debris.

Generally harmless to people and do not bite, sting, or transmit disease. They can contaminate or damage stored foods and natural-history collections, while also recycling dead organic matter.
