Behavior Patterns
Larvae carry a pile of 'junk' on their backs (made of dead prey, lichen, and plant debris) for camouflage from predators. They are active hunters with sickle-shaped mandibles.
Risks & Benefits
Highly beneficial to the ecosystem as natural pest control. While mostly harmless, they may occasionally nip human skin if handled, causing a minor, brief irritation.
