Garbage Bug (Junk Bug or Green Lacewing Larva)

Gardens, orchards, crops, and various landscaped areas where prey like aphids are present; found globally.

Carnivorous (predatory); primarily feeds on aphids, mites, scale insects, and other small, soft-bodied insect pests.

Larvae carry a pile of 'junk' on their backs (made of dead prey, lichen, and plant debris) for camouflage from predators. They are active hunters with sickle-shaped mandibles.

Highly beneficial to the ecosystem as natural pest control. While mostly harmless, they may occasionally nip human skin if handled, causing a minor, brief irritation.
