Broad-nosed weevil

Gardens, lawns, fields, leaf litter, and around ornamental or crop plants; many species also occur indoors accidentally.

Adults chew leaves and leaf margins; larvae typically feed on roots underground and may damage grasses, vegetables, or ornamentals.

Mostly nocturnal and slow-moving; adults may drop or feign death when disturbed. Many species are flightless females that reproduce without males, and larvae develop in soil.

Generally harmless to people and pets, with no meaningful bite or sting risk. Larvae can be garden or crop pests, while adults and larvae contribute to food webs and decomposition.
