Green Stink Bug

Found across North America in gardens, orchards, agricultural fields, and woodlands.

Herbivorous. It uses piercing-sucking mouthparts to feed on a wide variety of plants, including tomatoes, beans, corn, and fruit trees.

They are known for releasing a pungent, foul-smelling chemical from glands in their thorax when threatened. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and often overwinter as adults.

Considered a significant agricultural pest that can damage crops and cause 'cat-facing' in fruits. They pose no physical danger to humans, though their scent can be unpleasant and the fluid can cause slight skin irritation in sensitive individuals.
