The larva builds a flattened, spindle-shaped case from silk and debris (sand, dust, lint) which it carries around. It can emerge from either end of the case to feed or move.

Primarily a minor household pest that can damage clothing or fabrics made of natural fibers; they do not bite or pose direct health risks to humans.
