Acrobat Ant

Nests in moisture-damaged wood, dead tree limbs, and under rocks; frequently found indoors near damp areas.

Omnivorous; primarily feeds on honeydew from aphids, but also eats insects and high-protein/sweet household foods.

Characterized by a heart-shaped abdomen that they raise over their heads when disturbed; they are active during the day and forage along defined trails.

Generally beneficial for controlling other insect pests, but can become a nuisance pest indoors and may nip or sting if handled, though the pain is minor.
