Carbohydrates, starches, sugars, and proteins including paper, glue, book bindings, photos, sugar, coffee, hair, and clothing fibers such as cotton or silk.

Nocturnal, wingless, swift-moving with a distinctive wiggling motion resembling a fish, avoids light, and can survive for months without food under favorable conditions.

Risks include damaging books, wallpaper, documents, and textiles. They do not bite, transmit diseases, or pose direct health risks to humans.
