Long-jawed orb-weaver spider

Usually found near water or in damp vegetation, where it builds orb webs among reeds, grasses, and shrubs.

Catches and eats small flying insects, including mosquitoes and midges.

Often rests stretched along a stem; constructs a delicate orb web, commonly at night. Females lay eggs in silken sacs on vegetation.

Harmless to people and not medically significant; beneficial predator of mosquitoes and other small insects.
