Behavior Patterns
Small dark adults make short, weak flights and are often seen walking on surfaces or hovering near soil. Larvae develop in moist soil, with several generations possible annually indoors.

Usually harmless to people and pets, though heavy larval infestations can damage seedlings and roots. Larvae also contribute to decomposition and nutrient cycling.
