Indoors on walls, windowsills, carpets, upholstery, and stored textiles; larvae hide in dark, undisturbed areas.

Adults mainly feed on pollen and nectar. Larvae consume keratin-containing materials such as wool, fur, feathers, hair, and dead insects.

Adults are attracted to light and may appear on walls or windows. Larvae are slow-moving, concealed, and shed bristly skins while developing through several stages.

They do not bite or transmit disease, but larvae can damage natural-fiber fabrics and may irritate sensitive skin. They also help decompose animal material outdoors.
