Click Beetle

Found in wooded areas, gardens, under tree bark, decaying logs, and occasionally indoors near wooden structures or light sources.

Adults generally feed on nectar, pollen, and plant juices. Larvae (known as wireworms) feed on plant roots, seeds, and decaying organic matter.

Famous for their ability to launch themselves into the air with a distinct clicking sound to escape predators when placed on their backs. Larvae live underground for several years.

Generally harmless to humans (they do not bite or sting), but their larvae (wireworms) can be agricultural pests that damage root crops and seedlings.
