Case-bearing clothes moth (larva)

Indoor environments, particularly in closets, carpets, and storage areas containing natural fibers.

Keratin-rich materials including wool, silk, fur, feathers, and hair.

Larvae construct a portable silken case incorporating fibers from their food source. They carry this case as they feed and eventually pupate inside it.

Risk: Structural pest that causes significant damage to clothing, upholstery, and carpets. Benefit: Important ecological role outdoors as decomposers of animal remains.
