Leaf katydid (likely greater angle-wing katydid)

Trees, shrubs, gardens, and forest edges, especially in temperate North America. It is commonly found resting on foliage and around outdoor lights at night.

Primarily herbivorous, feeding on leaves, flowers, and occasionally fruit. It may nibble ornamental plants but is rarely a serious pest.

Nocturnal and strongly camouflaged; its broad, veined wings resemble a leaf. Males produce species-specific songs by rubbing their wings, and females lay eggs in plant tissue or along leaf edges.

Harmless to humans and nonvenomous. It contributes to food webs as prey for birds, reptiles, spiders, and small mammals, while causing little plant damage.
