Bed bug (likely shed skin or crushed adult)

Bedrooms and other indoor areas, especially mattress seams, bed frames, upholstery, and wall cracks near sleeping hosts.

Feeds primarily on blood, usually human blood, by piercing skin with specialized mouthparts. It typically feeds at night.

Flightless, nocturnal, and hiding during daylight; adults and nymphs can survive months without feeding. Females lay eggs in concealed cracks, and infestations spread through luggage, clothing, and furniture.

Bites can cause itchy welts, allergic reactions, and sleep disruption, but bed bugs are not proven major disease vectors. They provide little meaningful ecological benefit indoors.
