Springtail

Damp environments rich in organic matter, such as leaf litter, soil, rotting wood, and occasionally near plumbing or damp basements in homes.

Fungi, decaying plant material, algae, pollen, and bacteria.

They are wingless and known for using a forked tail-like appendage (furcula) underneath their abdomen to spring into the air when disturbed. They reproduce rapidly in moist conditions.

Springtails do not bite, sting, or transmit diseases, and they are completely harmless to humans, pets, and structures. They are beneficial to the ecosystem as decomposers that help break down organic matter and cycle nutrients.
