Omnivorous; feeds on a variety of organic matter including decaying vegetation, flowers, fruits, and small insects like aphids.

Nocturnal insects that use pincers (cerci) for defense and mating; they exhibit maternal care, where females guard their eggs and young nymphs.

They are largely harmless to humans and do not crawl into ears; they can be minor garden pests to soft fruits, but benefit ecosystems as decomposers and predators of pests.
