Green Stink Bug

Found in gardens, orchards, and agricultural fields throughout North America

Herbivorous; feeds on a wide variety of plants including fruits, vegetables, and field crops by piercing tissues and sucking juices

Active during the day, they exhibit cryptic coloration to blend with foliage. When threatened, they release a pungent-smelling fluid from glands as a defense mechanism.

Generally considered a significant agricultural pest as their feeding can cause spotting, distortion, and rotting of produce; however, they provide food for various birds and predatory insects.
