Woodlouse (sowbug)

Damp, sheltered places such as under stones, logs, leaf litter, and sometimes indoors in moist areas.

Feeds mainly on decaying plant material and other organic detritus.

A terrestrial crustacean, not an insect. Active mostly in darkness; rolls into a ball when disturbed, and females carry eggs in a brood pouch.

Harmless to people and buildings; helps break down dead plant matter. Large numbers may indicate excessive indoor dampness.
