Brown Marmorated Stink Bug

Agricultural fields, gardens, and fruit orchards; frequently enters human structures in autumn to overwinter.

Herbivorous. Feeds on a wide variety of plants including fruits (apples, peaches, pears), vegetables, and soybeans by piercing the skin with their proboscis.

Active from spring through fall; they enter a state of diapause during winter. Known for their defensive odor glands that emit a pungent smell when disturbed or crushed.

Significant agricultural pest that causes damage to crops. They are a nuisance to homeowners when they invade buildings in large numbers, but they do not bite humans or transmit diseases.
