Brown marmorated stink bug

Gardens, orchards, fields, and wooded areas; adults often enter buildings to overwinter.

Pierces fruits, seeds, and other plant tissues to feed on their juices.

Shield-shaped, mottled brown adults; releases a strong-smelling defensive secretion when disturbed. Overwinters as an adult and becomes active in spring.

Harmless to people, but can be a significant crop and garden pest. The pictured insect is consistent with this species.
