Bed bug (likely an immature or recently fed bed bug)

Bedrooms and other indoor resting areas, especially in mattress seams, bed frames, upholstery, and wall cracks.

Feeds exclusively on blood, mainly from humans but sometimes other warm-blooded animals. It typically feeds at night and hides between meals.

Flightless, secretive, and attracted to body heat and carbon dioxide; it can survive months without feeding. Females lay eggs in protected crevices, and nymphs molt through five stages.

Not known to transmit human disease reliably, but bites can cause itching, allergic reactions, and secondary infection from scratching. Infestations are difficult and costly to eliminate; it has no meaningful household benefit.
