Bed bug

Primarily human dwellings, hiding in mattress seams, bed frames, headboards, and cracks or crevices near sleeping areas.

Obligate hematophages, meaning they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.

Nightly activity cycles where they emerge from hiding to feed on a host; they undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and can survive months without a meal.

Significant public health pests; while not known to transmit diseases, their bites cause itching, allergic reactions, and psychological distress. They are difficult and expensive to eradicate.
