Found near windows, doorways, or artificial light sources indoors, as well as terrestrial habitats outdoors including gardens, fields, and woodlands.

Adults typically feed on flower nectar, tree sap, or rotting fruit using a proboscis; larvae (caterpillars) feed on host plant foliage.

Attracted to artificial light at night (phototaxis). Insects trapped indoors near windows often become exhausted, desiccate, and die on sills.

Harmless to humans with no biting or stinging risk. Adults act as beneficial pollinators, though larvae of certain species can be garden or agricultural pests.
