Pantropical and temperate regions; found in pantries, kitchens, food storage facilities, and warehouses.

Stored cereal products, flour, bread, pasta, nuts, dried fruits, and sugar.

They are flattened insects that can crawl into tiny crevices of food packaging. They do not fly but move quickly. Females lay eggs directly into food sources.

They are nuisance pests that contaminate food with larvae and waste. They do not bite or sting humans and carry no known diseases, but infested food must be discarded.
