Termite (likely a worker)

Soil, decaying wood, structural timber, and moist wall or floor voids. Colonies commonly occur near moisture sources.

Feeds mainly on cellulose in wood, paper, cardboard, and plant debris, with digestion aided by gut microbes.

Workers are wingless, soft-bodied, and live in concealed colonies organized around reproductives, soldiers, and workers. They avoid light and often travel through soil or mud tubes.

Can cause substantial structural damage by consuming timber, though usually do not bite people or transmit disease. They recycle dead plant material and return nutrients to soil.
