Field Cricket

Fields, meadows, lawns, and sometimes around human habitations and basements.

Omnivorous, feeding on plant matter, decaying organic material, and occasionally other insects.

Nocturnal insects known for their characteristic chirping produced by males rubbing their wings together. They are strong jumpers and hide under debris or in burrows during the day.

They generally pose no direct risk to humans, though large populations can become household pests or damage crops and fabrics. Ecologically, they serve as an important food source for many birds, reptiles, and small mammals.
