Indianmeal moth

Common indoors near stored dry foods, pantries, kitchens, and food-processing areas; adults may rest on walls and doorframes.

Larvae feed on grains, flour, cereals, nuts, dried fruit, pet food, seeds, and other dry goods. Adults do not feed and mainly reproduce.

Adults are mostly nocturnal and weak fliers; females lay eggs near food, and larvae leave infested packages to pupate in cracks, corners, or ceilings. The reddish-brown and gray wing pattern is characteristic.

They are harmless to people but contaminate stored food with webbing, frass, and cast skins. They provide minor food for predators but are primarily considered a household pantry pest.
