Wheel bug (likely)

Gardens, woodland edges, meadows, and other vegetation-rich areas across much of North America. Adults often rest on sunlit walls, fences, and porch structures.

A predatory insect that injects digestive enzymes and sucks fluids from caterpillars, beetles, true bugs, and other arthropods. It does not feed on plants.

Usually solitary and slow-moving, with strong flight when disturbed. Females lay clusters of barrel-shaped eggs; nymphs develop through several stages and may overwinter as eggs.

Highly beneficial as a natural pest controller. It can deliver a painful defensive stab if handled, but is not aggressive and poses no significant health risk.
